Varroosis remains one of the greatest challenges in modern beekeeping. The mite Varroa destructor weakens bee colonies, transmits viruses, and has a major impact on winter survival. For many years, chemical treatments were the main response to this problem. Today, however, more and more beekeepers, researchers, and breeders point out that chemistry alone is not enough - we also need methods based on the natural biology of the honey bee colony.
