EU’s largest geothermal district heating plant begins operations in Aarhus, Denmark

Innargi signs a multi-year framework agreement with H. Anger’s Söhne for the delivery of geothermal drilling services

The contract covers around 20 deep geothermal wells and represents a significant step in the industrialisation of geothermal energy for district heating. The drilling rig ‘City Rig 500’ was developed by Anger in collaboration with drilling rig developer and manufacturer Herrenknecht Vertical. It is regarded one of the most powerful drilling rigs in Europe and is specifically designed for geothermal drilling in urban areas.

Seismic surveys will assess the potential of geothermal energy for heating in Łódź

In the first half of August, seismic surveys will begin in Łódź to provide information on the geothermal potential of the city and its surroundings. The research is part of a project launched in October 2024 by Veolia Energia Polska, Veolia Energia Łódź , the City of Łódź and Innargi. Its aim is to use renewable geothermal energy in the Łódź district heating system. The research will provide detailed knowledge that will form the basis for further work on this project.

From seven to three: geothermal project to deliver same amount of heat from fewer locations

Based on the results from the three test wells drilled in Aarhus during the exploration phase, and due to positive technological developments in the project’s first year, Kredsløb and Innargi are now updating their joint geothermal project. The ambition is to deliver the same amount of heat from three locations instead of the originally planned seven.

Council conclusions could be the beginning of something big
