How to connect Compabase to VS Code (GitHub Copilot)
Compabase gives VS Code (GitHub Copilot) read-only access to data on 3M+ Polish companies from the KRS and CEIDG registers (financial statements, management and owners, public tenders, insolvency and sanctions records).
Server URL
When the client asks you to sign in, the Compabase page opens: sign in to your Compabase account and click Allow. The client then receives its own access token.
Steps
- Run MCP: Add Server from the Command Palette, choose HTTP and paste the URL, or create .vscode/mcp.json:
{ "servers": { "compabase": { "type": "http", "url": "https://compabase.com/api/mcp/connect" } } } - Start the server; VS Code opens the Compabase sign-in page. Sign in and click Allow.
- Open Copilot Chat in Agent mode and enable the server's tools in the tools picker.
Try these prompts
- Look up Orlen (KRS 0000028860) and summarise its latest financials.
- Who are the beneficial owners of KRS 0000028860?
- List software companies (PKD 62.01) in Gdańsk with revenue above PLN 10 million.
Cost and access
You need a Compabase account; the free plan includes a monthly allowance of MCP queries and paid plans raise it. You sign in once in the OAuth window; no API key to copy. Prefer a static key? Create an MCP key at https://compabase.com/integrations?tab=mcp and send it as Authorization: Bearer mcpk_… to https://compabase.com/api/mcp.
All tools are read-only. See the MCP documentation for every tool, or the GitHub repository.
