This subclass includes:
- abstraction of water from rivers, lakes and groundwater,
- water treatment for supply purposes,
- desalination of seawater or groundwater for the production of water, where treated as a principal activity,
- water distribution through water supply networks, by tankers or by other means of transport,
- collection of rainwater,
- operation of irrigation systems,
- rental and leasing of water distribution networks.
This subclass excludes:
- use of irrigation systems for agricultural purposes, classified in 01.61.Z,
- production of natural mineral waters and other bottled waters, classified in 11.07.Z,
- wastewater treatment for the prevention of pollution, classified in 37.00.Z,
- installation of water meters, classified in 43.22.Z,
- transportation of water by transmission pipelines, classified in 49.50.B,
- reading of water meters performed on order, classified in 82.99.B.
