Transportation and storage (PKD section H)

This section includes activities related to the carriage of persons or goods by rail, pipeline, road, water or air transport. This section includes the transport of passengers irrespective of the reasons for which the transport takes place - whether for personal, business or recreational reasons; the transport may be scheduled or unscheduled. Hiring of transport equipment with driver or crew, as well as postal and courier activities, are classified in this section. This section also includes supporting transport activities (for example terminal and parking operations, cargo handling, warehousing and storage, as transport-support activities such as silo operation, warehousing and storage facilities, tank storage). Transport activities classified in divisions 49, 50 and 53 often involve related activities (for example packaging, cargo handling operations, temporary crating, sampling and weighing of goods) that solely support transport activities.
