The production of wood products includes the following operations: sawing, planing, mechanical processing, laminating and joining (gluing) wood, which may then be cut or worked with a lathe or other wood-processing tools.

Structural timber or other forms of processed wood may be pre-planed or smoothed and assembled into a final product (for example wooden packaging).

Within this division, economic entities are classified primarily on the basis of the characteristics of the products manufactured, excluding sawmills and economic entities engaged in wood preservation.
