- education in public and non-public schools of all types, operated by government administration bodies, local government units or other legal or natural persons within the applicable system of education and higher education
- education in the form of: full-time, part-time or distance learning
- education provided at various levels of learning, including special education
- adult education provided at the level of primary schools, post-primary schools, including general secondary schools, second-stage sectoral vocational schools and post-secondary schools, and in non-school forms (including education provided in public and non-public continuing education institutions, vocational training centres, sectoral skills centres and vocational qualification courses)
- education in military schools and military academies
- education in schools attached to prisons and remand centres and in schools in correctional facilities and juvenile shelters at the relevant levels of education
- non-school forms of supplementary and vocational training
- non-school forms of education related mainly to sport, recreation and art
- services supporting education
- educational activities carried out by self-employed / own-account / individual / independent lecturers (carers, academic teachers, tutors, tutors and instructors)
- activities related to the administration, control, operation or support of schools and other institutions providing education, as well as the coordination of sports programmes.
