This subclass includes:
- rail freight transport carried out on railway networks, both mainline and local,
- freight transport by funicular railway,
- traction service activities.
This subclass excludes:
- storage and warehousing of goods, classified in 52.10.A, 52.10.B,
- operation of freight terminals, classified in 52.21.B,
- activities connected with railway infrastructure (for example, carrying out shunting operations on railways), classified in 52.21.B,
- transshipment of goods provided on a contract basis, classified in 52.24.A, 52.24.B, 52.24.C.
This group includes all types of inland passenger transport other than rail transport.
