Higher education (PKD 85.40.Z)
This subclass includes:
- education in public and non-public higher education institutions provided at the level of:
- first-cycle studies, to which candidates holding a maturity certificate are admitted and which end with graduates obtaining the professional title of licentiate, engineer or equivalent,
- second-cycle studies, to which candidates holding a diploma of completion of studies are admitted and which end with graduates obtaining the professional title of master, master engineer or equivalent,
- uniform master's studies, to which candidates holding a maturity certificate are admitted and which end with graduates obtaining the professional title of master, master engineer or equivalent,
- postgraduate studies, to which candidates holding a diploma of completion of studies of at least first-cycle level are admitted and which end with the award of postgraduate qualifications,
- doctoral schools, to which persons holding the professional title of master, master engineer or equivalent are admitted, or – in exceptional cases justified by the highest quality of scientific achievements – persons who are graduates of first-cycle studies or students who have completed the third year of uniform master's studies, preparing for the award of a doctoral degree,
- other forms of education, usually based on practical training specific to the performance of a given profession and preparing for entry into the labour market or into other higher education programmes,
- awarding scientific degrees and degrees in the field of art, as well as the title of professor.
Education may be provided in full-time or part-time study systems.

This subclass excludes:
- other forms of education, classified in the relevant subclasses of group 85.5.
This group includes education (including non-formal education) that is not part of education within the regular school system. Education at this level includes training for vocational, hobby or self-development purposes for both children and adults, including non-formal continuing and vocational education.
This group includes camps and schools offering groups and individuals courses in foreign languages, artistic, theatrical or musical activities, sports activities, as well as other specialist activities or training, other than those included in the relevant subclasses of groups 85.1 to 85.4.
This group also includes educational activity conducted by self-employed persons, on their own account or individual, independent lecturers (mentors, academic teachers, tutors, tutors and instructors).
- school forms of education specified in groups 85.1 to 85.4, i.e. pre-school education, education in primary, post-primary and post-secondary schools, as well as in higher education institutions.
